Nothing wrong about dreaming, though.

4. Money - I dont think we can save too much money but enough to lead a good lifestyle abroad ( a house with all appliances and a car and an SUV)
plus build a base back home bcoz ultimately I think we will get back there)
Wow thats enuf of dreaming I guess.![]()
In August 2001 I applied for Canada immigration. 9/11 happened and everything was murky and it looked like I would'nt get the PR visa. I decided to choose canada over New Zealand even though my head and heart said go to new zealand. I went back to my NZ consultant, he re-worked my points for nz and said, buddy you were qualifying for PR status in august but now u can qualify for work visa. Nothing wrong cuz as soon as get a job in nz ur work visa will get converted to pr status. I applied for nz since it would take 9-12 months to get there. this time line kept extending and almost 1.5 years later nz changed it's rules with retrospective effect and i got my refund cheque in the mail. Few months later, canadian immigration handed me the pr visa with interview exemption!
I am new in canada but would rather be in new zealand. Better weather, smaller country, maybe better jobs..who knows. Even today i would nz over canada anyday.
I personally do not kow the situation in Australia or NZ, but I have a my friends settled in both countries. Believe it or not, but it's the same situation as it is in Canada. Jobs are not easy to get. I haven't heard of labour job for $15 per hour.
Plus points are only weather and may be proximity to India, I guess.

Hi all
I am trying to do more research into job opportunities in Australia and there is a good forum called http://www.indiandownunder.com.au/forums/default.asp, so anybody interested can look at that forum.
I believe the latest Australian PR timeline is only 8 months but most important is to have your skill assessment done and also your occupation needs to be listed on the skilled occupation List. information is available on http://www.immi.gov.au" rel="nofollow">LINK

Anybody having more info do share it on this thread.
The grass is always greener on the other side.
I recently received an email from a friend who is an Oracle (IT) guy and has same experience as I do and in his words :
'I will tell you what I get now so you can make your own assumption. Currently I get 54 A$ per hour. After tax & supper annulation reduction I take home 1342 A$ per week. Hope you find info useful.'
He is in Sydney and has been there for 6 months . It comes to $5,000/- pm and he s just average Oracle skill set . Whereas looking at the scenario in Canada I am not hopeful of getting $3k pm .
Either Australia IS a better place job & climate wise or we are being pessimistic about Canada . Or is it that Canada has reached saturation ??? But then there s US just across the border to invite Techies over .
Lets discuss this more .
