Now there is a topic which says
"Bhai Tum Sign karoge ya nahin"....

Of 'cos the whole conversation after that is a classic

"Haan main sign karoonga, Lekin main akele nahin karoonga, main sabse pehle nahin karoonga,
Jao pehle us aaadmi ka sign leke aao jisne mere BAAP se sign liya tha..."

SO I was wondering..what do you think are some of the most famous dialogues of hindi movies ?

"Suna tha insaan bander se paida hua tha, magar in kaagaz ke tukdon ne use Kutta bana diya hai" ( Shree 420)

Just one word... "Takhliya !"

Sholay..maybe every dialogue in Sholay....
"Un haramzaadon ko, main chun chun ke maaronga" (for example) ....

My school and college days were the ones when I saw maximum number of movies...so guys please excuse me if you feel that movies of 70s and 80s dominate my contributions to this forum!

I do not remember the dialogs verbatim like ON does, but still I'll try,

One movie that I can repeat any number of times for its dialogs is Amitabh's \"Trishul\"...some of them go something like...

\"Mr. R.K. Gupta....mere paas is waqt 5 phooti kaudiyan bhi nahin hain aur main aap se 5 lakh ka sauda karne aaya hoon\"

\"Sahi baat sahi waqt aur sahi mauke pe ki jaye to us ka maza kuchh aur hi hota hai\"

\"Aaj aap ke paas aapki saari daulat sahi...lekin aap se bada gareeb maine aaj tak nahin dekha\"

\"Mere zakhm jaldi nahin bharte\"

Some of Amitabh's dialogs in Deewar, Sholay, Shakti, Kala Patthar (Shatrughan too had some meaty dialogs in this), have been tremendously appreciated by one and all .....Salim Javed have hugely contributed to Amitabh's super stardom.

The film most known for its dialogs is Sholay. Though overall a very well made film ahead of its times, Sholay would not have been what it is, without its dialogs.

Who can forget?....

\"Kitne Aadmi The?\"

\"Sardar Maine aap ka namak khaya hai Sardar\"...\"Ab Goli Kha\"

\"When I dead...budhiya going jail..in jail budhiya chakki peesing and peesing \"

\"Arre mausi se kaun shadi karega sala...mujhe to woh basanti se shadi karni hai\"

\"Rehne wale shehar ke ho....lekin samjhdaar lagte ho\"...(a village belle safely assuming that all city folks are idots !!!)

\"Yeh Haath nahin, phansi ka phanda hai\"

\"Arre o Samba, utha to zara bandook, aur laga nisana is kutte par\"

Then that conversation between Amitabh and Leela Mishra, when he tries to convince her that there could be no better match for Basanti, than his friend Veeru!

People say DDLJ, Hum Aap ke hai koun etc have been bigger hits, I personally believe there has been no greater hit than Sholay. I vividly remember traffic coming to halt in Market lanes, wherever the LP record of Sholay's dialogs was being played. I dont know the stats, but Sholay could easily be the film that must have sold the largest number of LP records just for its dialogs.

I remember specially going to see Mughal-e-Azam just for its dialogs, though i cannot recall any specific dialogs right now...but yes the dialogs were really crisp and kept one engrossed in the movie, though every one knew the story!

On the humorous side.... Chupke Chupke, Jane Bhi Do Yaron and Gol Maal are my favourites.

"Jisne apni ma ko 25 baras tak marte huey dekha hai , use maut se kya darr"

"Mere paas na hi ma baap ki daulat hai aur nahi ek phooti kaudi, mere paas agar kuch hai toh woh hai maa ka diya hua ashirwaad" (and the spppof went as VIP Bonus Banian)

Gol Maal :- Main tumhein maaf nahin, main tumhein saaf kar doonga ...
