I hope no one minds if I try and collect some useful summary information from the success stories and collate them here under specific headings.
While maybe not correct, as is obvious, the posts in "Success stories" are, and most likely will be, defining success as getting a reasonably well paying job. I will therefore request posters to specify how long it took them after landing to meet that definition, besides the other column headings below.
So here we go(SI = successful immigrant):
Note:
1.I have tried to get the info from the posts that are available. Some of it is inferred and may be wrong. The mistakes if any are unintentional and my apologies for it. Please feel free to correct/rectify either by a post or by requesting the moderator. Some important information is not available. I have marked it as N.A and will appreciate if it is made available.
2.The column headings are abbreviated. The full forms are
Col.1: Canadian Desi User ID
Col.2: Age bracket
Col.3: Landed From - Rather than country of origin, IMO it is more pertinent to know the country where the SI was normally resident/working before coming to Canada.
Col.4: Primary Occupation - This is the primary field of the occupation / expertise / profession of the SI before his landing in Canada.
Col.5: Occupation in Canada - This is the eventual/current field of occupation of the SI in Canada.
Col.6: Time before the SI considered himself eligible to write his story in the "success stories" forum.
Col.7: Re-education - Was the success of the SI related in anyway to his education/re-education in Canada
Col.8: Total time spent by the SI in Canada since his landing.
