Guys!
You are making a mistake in your statements. Know that Canada also has to take in refugees if they need to take in immigrants. More the immigrants needed , the Govt. has to take in more refugees. This is in line with the UN guidelines. So you can say that taking in refugees is a necessary evil.
(OTOH wonder what Australia does. I am sure that its refugee intake policy is very very less)
Thanks for going through my post.

I do know about the UN rules. However Canada's refugee rules are very lax and are being constantly exploited by economic refugees. (UN rules are only for political refugees).

Do you know that the number of refugees crossing into Canada from US (who were denied asylum in the US) is three times the number of people (who were denied political asylum in Canada) crossing from Canada to US?
That is simply due to the lax Canadian political asylum rules.

Recently several Sudanese refugees in Egypt resorted to rioting because U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Cairo refused to move all of the refugees to USA or Canada (as demanded by the refugees) because there was a peace deal signed between Sudanese government and Sudanese Rebels. (UN rules apply only if there is a situation in which the refugees lives are threatened in their home country due to internal political conflicts, war etc. and not for economic reasons).

Why do you think all refugees want to go to Western countries?

In the past very recent years, US and Canada brought in this new regulation to stop the above that you have mentioned. It is now under force and that means one can only apply for asylum in the country that the person originally entered into.

How well it works, that's a million dollar question.
