Dear CDs,
I know most of the fellow memebrs must have faced this situation when planning to visit India.
This is related to the gift items to be presented to relatives, friends, colleagues, etc as a token of love, warmth and "foreign connection".
Though I am planning to visit India only by January 2005 but then I wish to start devoting some time on shopping so as to not affect my budget in one go.
Please suggest me the best possible items to be taken for different age groups - both men and women.
Though it all depends upon the individuals' buying capacity and the overall financial budget, but still I thought to seek the valuable opinion of CDs.
Bye and take care !
It depends on your budget but I am giving some options below
(1) DVD player : In India still branded ones are fairly expensive. You can buy Region Free 110/220 V compatible players .I know DAEWOO have couple of models like this but u could get some other brands also
(2)Digital Camera : Like 3.2 MegaPixel u can get within $200 bucks
(3) Perfume : If your budget permit ...because these are expensive stuff
(4)Dinner Set : Like CORRELLE etc which are less expensive and light weight.
(5)Telephone with caller ID and answering machine: U will get some cool model which aren't available in India
For friends and distant relative you can buy stuffs like : Walkman, portable CD/MP3 player,Digital Diary etc
And OfCourse Scotch/Whisky/Champangne and Cigar Carton from DutyFree shop
Happy shopping

For perfume look for deals in shopping mall or major chains you could get better deal than even duty free shop
I am not sure about Canada but last time when I visited India from USA I got excellent deal from major chains
Thanks

If you're looking for deals on perfumes, you could check out perfumefactory.ca. If you're not comfortable with buying online, you could visit their store, which I think is just off the QEW as you approach Niagara, if you are going down to the falls sometime (I have seen the board, but never visited the store).
Their prices for the most part, are comparable, if not better than duty free stores and you could also find combination deals, etc.
Check ur promo v/s the duty free prices on branded perfumes . Chances r that DF prices wud still b less .Personal expereince .
