stay away from some of those grudging relatives....nothing you give them will make them happy.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
Sorry to say this but since you get all the lastest stuff in India, gifts are not really appreciated like in the old days when the receivers eyes would light up. Nevertheless i took colonge and after-shaves for the guys. Kids got some clothes, the ladies got some expensive bath soaps and lotions and the oldies got a box of chocolates.
Then try to treat your friends to drinks and dinner. The time spent together while dining was the most memorable. Do not forget to take a camera. Pictures are very valuable. Make sure you mail them the pictures with a short letter.
it depends on ur budget and who deserves what?
If u r buying for men,they would like shirts/t-shirts,sweaters,shaving stuffs,wrist watch,hair dye,answering machine,caller id phone,nike shoes etc.
For women, u can buy lotion,shampoo,make up kit,purse,immitation jewellery set,sweaters,t-shirts,nail polish,soap,deodarent and some kitchen stuff.
u should also visit any dollar store.

Thanks Sahib for sharing your frank thoughts. Yeah you are right. There is no alternative to happening get togethers with close friends etc.
