I would opine that the discipline should be more towards a clean joke and benign humour, rather than having a rule for ethnic joke. Anything which is in good taste should be allowed whether ethnic or not, and anything crossing those limits, should not be.
And the limits should be decided by the general audience, on a case to case basis, rather than a particular person.
And what NOBODY has written is so true. In our lives, it is difficult enough to do a paid job for public interest, let alone a voluntary help on the same lines. I salute to BL and GG who have been doing a wonderful job.

I think you're taking this way too seriously and mingling different issues here. We're talking about the HUMOR section of CanadianDesi, not exactly the most visited or prominent section on the site.
A uniform policy on everything (with ENFORCEMENT) would be great, BUT I hope you realize that this is not a site with a well-paid management team whose exclusive job is to churn out policies. As far as managing of the website is concerned, there's only two guys who are regularly monitoring content posted here and trying to do our best in maintaining a balance (although I'm aware its nowhere close to a state of Zen). All this while trying to juggle our own lives and jobs and other stuff. And in case you're suspicious, I haven't seen a single dime while doing all this, don't ever want to. All I've gained is some personal satisfaction and some good friends. I do wonder if its worth it when I have to deal with stuff like this, but overall no regrets.
I hope you pardon me slipping up on issues like these. If you still feel this is a serious issue, I welcome you to moderate this section, that would mean so much more than words. Let me know.

I am only talking about the issue of ethnic humour and that this forum should not prohibit it as far as it is devoid of malicious or derogatory content. I never said you have slipped up any issue. You are doing a fine job and it has been well appreciated by many. I was only trying to say that as moderators, you guys should exercise your own independent value judgement reached from your own experience and knowledge, and not be guided by some self declared nitpicky old maids. I have no problems in accepting your suggestion to moderate this section. It is not a wildly popular one and not too much traffic flows thro it, so I have no problems. Except I do not know what a moderator's job is and how it is done.
