some of my favourite filmi gazals of Jagjit Singh(apart from the ones already mentioned) are:

You amaze me by your vast knowledge in this field. You are a walking encyclopedia. It appears to be the result of a deep passion for music.
You know music and research go hand in hand. A good scientist often is a music lover. Kalam, Bhabha, Ramanna just to name a few are shining examples of this. I am sure your dissertation is going to be of a very high standard.
How about doing a second PhD in Indian music?

My dissertation is long over will be awarded the Degree in November, during the convocation.
As for a second degree in Indian Music... If I were to do that, I would rather do it on Indian Classical Music. Filmi gaano mein koi mazaa nahin hai, esp the new breed of songs. Of 'cos there are exceptions.
The new Yash Chopra film "Veer Zara" has music by the Late Madan Mohan (yeah..!!).. Add to that the lyrics by Javed Akhtar and Sung by Lata Mangeshkar et al.,..You have a real classic in your hands. Of 'cos the story will be crap (the usual Love story between an Indian airforce dude and a Pakistani Girl !)...
