| I am not coming to Canada, No no - Coming Now! By: Dear All, article.php?id=62 |
Hi Kaps,
Maja mu chhu. Thanks for offering to help.
Actually I visited the Resume centres & made resumes for jobs in sales, call-centres, data-entry, administration, etc.
I am looking for a sales job in IT field/telecommunications. So if you know of something do let me know.
I selected Calgary mainly because :-
1. There are lot of companies around Calgary which are into oil exploration & engineering. Due to that computer vendors & telecom sector companies are here.
2. Compared to Toronto, less number of immigrants come here. So chances of getting good job in our field are more.
3. Cost of living & travelling time is less here compared to bigger cities. Hence quality of life can be better.
4. Disadvantage is extreme cold, but I guess not much difference for us between -20 or -35 since we have not experienced either.
5. 2 of my close friends are settled in Calgary. So initial support is there & company is also there.
I guess these are the major reasons. Ofcourse i would love to move to Vancouver after some time due to moderate climate & also the sea is nearby.
Where r u located?
Bye & rgds.

Looks like your decision is completely based on financial considerations.
All you talk about is how much you will save with each option.
Having said that, I think it is a wise decision but you should be careful as the canadian authorities are becoming increasingly vigilant about people who cut it too close(stay out for exactly 3 years and then come back when 2 years are left). While legally as of now they cannot do anything, they are giving people a hard time by asking them to prove the days you have been out of canada, whether you have had any ties to the country during that period, etc. etc.
Dear VJ
i think its right desicion but i just like to mantioned one thing \" make sure you have exta days for vacation as sometimes this PR card take long time i m not trying to scar you anythin but it happend in my family that becauce of the PICTURE they did not send PR card n its about 3 MONTHS NOW, still waiiting for PR .(after waiting 2 1/2 months to get appointmet for another picture ,hoping to get it by next week weeks)..so be careful when you landed u make sure thye have ur right picture...immigration work tk alot time n u need to have patient. GOODLUCK To u n ur wife
Geez, man, VJ.
You ought to have done this "research" a long time back - *before* you applied.
It is people like you that are slowing down the Canadian immigration process and making it difficult for the rest of us who seriously wish to immigrate and settle in Canada ASAP.
Do you realise that --
1. Because of your stupidity in applying *before* researching the conditions in Canada, you have slowed down the immigration process for other people
2. CIC is prevented by law from making a surplus or profit through the immigration business. Most of their activities are paid for by taxes.
The fees that you pay (yes, even including the rip-off landing fees) barely covers the true cost of processing your application.
What this means is that *I* am paying my hard-earned tax $$ to process *your* application when you have no real intent of ever settling here.
3. It is applicants like you who are abusing the immigration system by becoming "paper" PRs.
You are crippling the immigration system.
Canadian immigration leaves a lot to be desired and has several policy holes - please do not abuse/exploit it and make it worse for others.
If you are well-settled in your country, stay there for Heaven's sake.
If you wish to "see the world" as you said, go buy a plane ticket and get a tourist visa !

Hey One is a crowd,
Interesting viewpoint! I don't think it will go down well with VJ though!
However where did you get the notion that the fees you pay do not cover the processing costs? I am given to understand that only $200 is used for processing and the rest is used in settlement services the govt provides here, however marginal we feel they may be.
New spin though.

You say that the landing fees are a rip-off and yet you say they barely cover the processing costs? How are they a rip-off then? Please expound.
