see how easy it is to just reply to the OP regarding the poll rather than creating childish arguments & ridiculing other people.

Giving your opinion is important with the vote but to start frivolous arguments with other people's opinion is not cool in anyway....

most of the Vaag jokes are good & I appreciate the time & effort, but this in particular is not. Which is not a big deal at all. We would appreciate it more if it can be little bit within the lines of the poll results (however the poll ends)...

The reason I posted the poll is when I originally pointed out the joke was not appropriate for CD (adult themed and misogynistic) and suggested some self moderation from the poster, the unfortunate response was immediately "we're all adults, it makes our day" etc. etc. And the next ones likely crossed the line further with some of these "adults" tripping over each other to hand out congratulations on the degree of humor achieved and days made

Well, it is very clear from the opinions expressed on this thread and the poll that the majority of active members disagree and do not feel this stuff is appropriate nor funny. Good to know that this crap is not making most people's day.

Couple of other opinions expressed were that jokes that are sensitive to religion or specific communities may also be offensive and I know a few folks have complained in the past.

I'll let Rajcanada review and formulate the rules around this and add to the posting comments, and as well decide on how to moderate these going forward.

In addition to prohibition of explicit reference to genitals / private parts.

a. Like Canadian Sakhi ... Have a 'For Men' section where men can discuss things / jokes common to them .

b. The Report Abuse feature - if a post has more than 5 abuses , it may be automatically deleted or a high priority for the moderator to check .

c. Do away with the naughty jokes altogether , even the mild ones .. ( this might be an extreme as it would make the forum very dry )

This is exactly what I feared and mentioned in the 2nd page that this extreme joke would be used as a tool to curb even the acceptable 100s of jokes that other posters like JRF & Clinton have also said that they are okay with Vagg's jokes generally but not the crudest couple of them which name body parts ...


Since we have had a divided opinion on this most crude joke ( and the poll on this ) would it be better to consider another alternative of say 'no reference to body parts - implicit or explicit ' ..... There is another one 'costume party' joke doing rounds and that is a good example of that ...

If we ban naughty jokes , then the q comes - why not ban communally insensitive jokes like on sardars .... If we do that also .... then we have almost no jokes coming on CD .... which might make the forum very dry .

Also the bare fact that this post didn't have 5 abuses or more is because people did not pay much attention to it ... I also did not enjoy it but ignored it and moved on w/o responding treating it as an exception .... until some one raised a stink and snowballed the issue .

There are lots of threads which do not get responded to coz there are no takers for them .
