Please don’t generalize the community and your statement is not true. Majority of the Desi’s I have seen are very hard working, law abiding people. They will do 2 jobs but never beg or go to food bank. Please don’t think that every Desi is like you and keep the filth where it belongs to.

A Delhite in Toronto
Most of the time, when a NEW Immigrant asks about the PR card entry questions, I tell them to LAND AND GET YOUR "P.R." and enjoy your stay as long as you want and do your sight seeing etc., and return back to where you are from, IF you have no intentions of settling down here.
This collecting your PR cards etc., is great and whenever you are ready to get back in and settle down permanently here LEAVE all of the other cards, SIN number, Bank accounts etc., for a time whenever they are ready to settle down. I even tell them get a Demand Draft in a currency that they are normally used to and after they return drop it back into their account and the landing is done and they are back. Might lose a few bucks on its purchase, but will not lose any money in exchange related expenses.
That way they generate NO TIES to Canada and what they do else where or in any other part of the world, does not enter into the Canadian System. (Finances and TAX) That will leave them with a lot of leeway later on to do what ever they want at a later date.
We tell everyone this with good intentions and we all consider it to be GOOD HELP. But each and every one is free to consult a Good Lawyer or an Accountant and seek EXPERT Advice. It does cost a few good bucks, but it gives them all a small peace of mind.
Now you are on your own. Each one has created a scenery ans faces the consequences. But never returns back to tell us what happened afterwards when it kicks his/her ass.

I am not sure how you can point your fingers at me Delhite when you have not even met me in person or donot know my status.
Even Desi's who are in IT jobs will do all crooked things to save a $ and then brag about their steadfastness at this site, given the anonymity that this site entitles you so.
I have seen Desi's begging Gora's for more money, I have seen desi's taking money under the table, I have seen desi's cheat in taxes etc..
May be you have not seen the real Desi's in Canada and are living in utopia. Canada is the right place for people like you.

Thanks to FH, TK and SS for detailed replies. Subject is much open and clear to me know. Got a quick question connected to the same subject...is there any difference between gross annual income or annual income and which one we are supposed to reflect in the forms !

Gross or the total income.
Based on that Standard deduction would be done by CRA and they will get the net income upon which you will be taxed and benefits according to you.

It's either gross annual income or net annual income. Gross annual income is what you get paid by the employer, whereas the net annual income is your take home pay after all deductions
