Urgent processing of permanent resident card. :

If you are in Canada and have not submitted your application

Please make sure your travel date is more than 3 weeks away. Otherwise *

Note: If your travel date is in less than 3 weeks, follow the instructions in the If you will not receive your card before your travel date section.

1) Complete your application as instructed in applying for your first permanent resident card.

2) With your application, include a photocopy of your proof of travel and proof of payment for your travel (partial or full payment).

The proof of travel, such as tickets or an itinerary, must show:

The dates you will be traveling;
Your personal information such as your full name; and
Your destination.
The proof of payment must show:

The date the purchase was made;
The amount paid; and
The method of payment
If your urgent request does not include all required information, we may not process your application urgently.

3) On your envelope, write:

Urgent—Proof of travel included

Next Steps: Within 10 business days, you can check the status of your application online.

If you provide a waybill (Contact a courier) then you might get it within 10 business days, by courier.

*If you will not receive your card before your travel date

If the card is not ready before your departure, you will have to apply for ""a Travel document"" (permanent resident abroad) at a Canadian visa office located outside Canada before returning to Canada. You can fill out the application on-line and print it or fill it out by hand. The travel document is only valid for one entry.

In any case, please keep multiple photocopies of all of the documents and if possible one on to the web page or in your e-mail too.
