As an immigrant, I knew that locals thought very poorly of us, though many would not say it on the face. Most think that we come from a land of snakes, live in huts and have never seen a dentist, doctor or a computer.
From the article, I have to agree that most of Australians and NZ's are racist. Otherwise, how dare they would come to our country (India) for the games and then insult us.
Personally in Canada, I have not been insulted this much but then it may be different situation for the rest of us. I know that Australia boast of very good employment for Desi's in contrast with Canada where most struggle. Maybe Canadians are less racist and we are compensated by lack of jobs.

Australia is a very small country and the livable area is even less than Canada's.
Australians are by nature very crude, racist and intolerant people.
among the so called white nations, Australia is perhaps the most racist.

I have to agree with tamilkuravan. Its been almost about a year now that the Australian job market has really opened up. Infact my sister lives there and she reckons the same. She says its the right time now for anyone intending moving there. Infact my sister and her husband both switched to new well paying jobs in companies of their choice.

I recently came to know that Australian market is soley based on their export to China (as our is to USA) and china has been on a roll since the 2000.
Also Australia is a country of 20 million people with people having a distinctively laid back life. They donot encourgae refugees. They have a better year around climate than Canada and lots of minerals.
Just for example, I know a ITI draftswoman who is now the planner of railway lines. They just had lots of job openings and not enough people to fill in. Besides the climate is so great/

I COMPLETELY agree with TK. Of all the people, friends, relatives I know who immigrated Australia are so well settled, and never could recall a moment when they complained about not getting work due to their color and lack of Aussie experience (heck, they don't even know what does it mean). Not even settled, they are successful from the day one when immigrated. So, they are not racist as the media tells us otherwise.
Ever heard about Australian Experience, but I bet on the Canadian Experience. It's just that racism has many facets, and Canada is no different - although invisible.
