Visitor visa to canada - Single Entry

One of my relative got visitor visa to Canada - Single Entry and he has USA- Multiple entry visa.

Because of the kind of a tour he has taken which includes Canadian Rockies and Alaska he will hv to enter Canada from USA two times. He was given to understand that even though he has single entry visa ,he can enter Canada multiple times without any problem. Is it true?

I have read somewhere that Canadian visitor visa with single entry have some special arrangement with USA so they can enter from USA more than once. Though I dont have any reference for this. Please check thoroughly before leaving canada.

YES, it is correct. He can also stay in Canada for a total of SIX months from* the date of entry. (He has to make a request and also show a return ticket and funds to support and any health coverage for the duration of stay, at the P.O.E.)

Hi,

I have some questions regarding the single entry visitor visa that I am planning for my parents. Please advise. Here are my questions (sorry for the exhaustive list):

1. As I am aware, CHC is notorious to reject these visas more frequently than approve. My father is retired and mom is home-maker. Could their visa be rejected due to fact that my dad doesn't work anymore? Although they own a house in Delhi. Are the house bills, property tax docs suffice to show their ties to home country and that they would go back? What other house documents are required other than the bills.

2. How much is the sufficient amount that they need to show in their accounts? Should this amount be equally distributed among my dad and mom's account, or just my Dad as he will be the principle applicant?

3. One of the question in the Visitor application form is if they have applied for any Canadian immigrant visa? I have applied for their PR but the application is still in Canada. They haven't filed their part of the application in Delhi. Should I quote 'Yes' or 'No'?

4. Does someone have a sample of invitation letter? Should it be notarized?

5. Do I need to buy their tickets beforehand? I mean what if their visa will be rejected, or do I have any workaround?

6. Related to No. 3. If their visa is approved and they land here, and while they are here with me, their PR is approved (Canadian part of the application). Would they need to go back to file their application in Delhi, or could it be done within Canada as well? Just wondering.

7. Since this is my first time, how much time does it take for the visa processing. Is it 2 weeks or 3? VFS site doesn't mention it clearly.

8. Do they need to go through the medicals?

9. They are thinking about applying for US visitor visa as well. Is there any implication?

I would really really appreciate if someone please provide some advise w.r.t. the above queries.

Here is my pointwise reply based on my personal experiences with my parents visitor visa applications.

1. The house etc which we have in india is in my name , not my parents. So they just showed approx 10 lakhs in Fixed deposite etc. My father is retired and my mother is a home maker. They got single entry visa twice and after they returned after 6 months, now third time they got multiple entry visa.

So the basic house docs( ownership docs ) and latest tax bill would be fine.

2. You can show both accounts, distribution does not matter in my opionon. They should be free unencumberd funds.

3. You should declare that application for visa is there, ( add a line in the letter saying that Indian part is not done ), do not hide any facts, if discoverd they are detrimental to the case.

4. Threre is a sample letter link somewhere in this site which I used to good effect. I did not get my letter notarized.

5. You need not buy the tickets, just give approx date of travel in the letter, I had done that, they did not want the ticket with the application.

6. In my case it usually took 5-7 biz days. Unless they ask for medicals, even in that case they write in 5-7 days asking you to do medicals and resubmit.

7. Going thru medicals is luck, in the first 2 tries, they said my parents need medicals, the third time they said submit proof of medical insurance, which i did and they issued visa. I would suggest take out the insurance policy and attach it with the letter and application. If you do not get visa , you can cancell it and get full refund.

8. US Visa has no implication, they are IMO independent decisions.

I have sample Invitation Letter that I can forward to you ... yes its better if it is notorized.

Besides that, I firmly believe ... no mater what the status is - Visitor Visa is a lottery. I dont think they give enough attension to the application. Rejection letter is standard.

Only tricky part in your situation is #3. As PR application is not yet approved in Canada ... it may work against you.
