Time line for Citizenship Applications

Hi,

I am sending my citizenship application in beginning of April. Someone told me that it will take a year before I get my passport. Is it true ?

Is there a way/trick to make it happen faster ?

Your estimations are very close to the current processing times.

Maaaaay bee. Try working in the Frozen North and apply at one of those locations.
Iqualiut, Nunavut, Pond Inlet, DEW Line, White horse?

I think the current average is 2 years..

My file was sent end of july 2009 and has not been opened yet.

They are currently opening applications from August 2009. They should have opened your application by now. But individual times may vary.
