Good morning:
I joined this site yesterday in the hope of getting a chance to meet other desi's. And here I find this thread on a get-together that sounds fantastic. However I had a few questions:
-Is this just an informal gathering or is there some business (etc) minded motive behind it? (I would like to meet people in a casual dress coded, relaxed environment.)
-I know there is going to be a list started for people who would like to attend. Can I attend or do you need to have been on this board for a certain amount of time or some other variables that I dont quite meet yet?
-I have read this thread and it seems kinda lopsided to have the host provide refreshments for everyone. Wouldnt it be nicer if everyone just got a little to go around?
I am new here, so Im not sure of the etiquette here, hopefully I havent stepped on any toes to warrant any flaming : )
Have a nice day!

Depending on how long the meeting is going to be based on that you can decide the food (snacks). Just the normal thing as you know ' more food, less talking'.
My suggestion is that just stick to pops ( 2 lt bottles), tea/coffee if you have a bit warmer (desi like their tea) and samosas, doklas and cookies.
As someone said wisely 'food leave if for a picnic'.
Also at the door there should be a $5 contribution. This will cover up the food and beverages as well as the disposal cups, plates and napkins.
It is not good to burden one person for the entire cost. Biomed was good enough to offer that suggestion.
