Hi,

I am from Gujarat, I had applied for study permit at the canadian high commission, I finally got the visa/study permit on 12th of Jan 2003. Since my college started from 2nd of Jan, they told me that I was too late for this semester so I should join the program in summer semester which starts on 5th May this year.

Now my question is, how many days earlier, to the start date of my college, can I come to Canada. Also please tell me what is the procedure after I arrive at the airport in canada. My study permit is valid till Jan 2004.

You can come one or two months prior to your start date. At the airport, immigration officer will ask you the reason for delay and don't be afraid to speak the TRUTH. Don't listen to anyone who encourages you to come up with stories etc. Immigration appreciates people telling the truth.

If asked why you came 2 months before start, you should explain that you want to take time to settle etc. Get to know the place ...

I'm assuming you have someone to help you upon arrival.

Dear Freind ,
I am also come on the student status , If you want to come here ,you come without any fear or any hasitation ....here imigration officer or other people are not like as per the people who say at this time ...in India ...They tall you ...lab..lab..la this type of problem ? or many type of question may ask on the port of entry etc ...things say but as per my best knowledge and also acording to law .... the immigration officer only ask you about your course...time of complition....also ...where you stay ...may be relative or other college adress in canada...and some type of this simple questions .... but they r not effect your visa or duration of time to visa expiration or other things... they just chek the student come on the visa is ture and the genune or not and stamp and give a letter - proof of your student status...college...which u join, course , time period of visa ..etc..

So , I saggest you come with out any hasitation or any fear ...
