Changes do take place in everyone's life. They have to be informed as soon as they happen or as soon as you can. To give you an example, You will have to inform : To the Postal People, The MOT for the vehicle license and Driver's license, to the OHIP for the health. All of the other Utilities, credit cards, Banks, the CRA, The Passport Office, and also to the News paper vendor.

They have other means of verifying the same. So you be the first one to do it and don't be lax in reporting it.

I don't think it will have any negative connotations.

Please quote the File number to them when you report the change, so that it gets into your personal files.
