Dear Canadian Desi patrons,

I would like to share with all of you my horrible experience with Bell Canada.

The story goes like this :

I have an telephone installed at my residence. Due to practical reasons, I requested an additional facility of FAX from the Bell Canada people. This arrangement provides an additional FAX number to your existing one with a very nominal fee.

Bell Canada was kind enough to allot me a particular number the very same day. The things went well for first 10 days. But the problems landed soon there after. I was shocked to learn that Bell Canada had alloted me a number which was already in existence with some other telecom service provider.

The moment I started getting surprising messages, I called up the Customer Service Cell of Bell Canada atleast 3 times but was assured that no one the earth except me can have the same number. I was satisfied. I have with me the names of Customer Support Executives and their IDs to support my conversation.

But the problem persisted and I was unable to utilise the Fax facility as desired by me. To add to this my clients had to undergo mental agony as they had to listen to the offensive talks of the person who had the similar telephone number at his place.

And Now the problem is that all my Fax messages simply do not reach the destination and instead are down the drain for no fault of mine.

I am undergoing huge financial losses as the FAX number has been circulated to numerous contacts throughout the world. My reputation has been brought to an all time low by such irresponsible behaviour of Bell Canada.

I have already got my Office Stationary printed in bulk with an expenditure running into thousands of dollars.

I have been knocking the door of Bell Canada since last 7 days but to no avail. Everytime I am told that some Senior Manager will contact me but not a single person has even bothered to call me up.

I would request legal luminaries/general public who quite often visit this site to suggest the best possible way to get the things sorted out. If this is the state of customer focus in Canada, then Almighty save this country and all immigrants like us.

I wish to take this genuine issue to the Consumer Court for compensation and relief for the losses/mental agony being faced by me.

Please advise.

Really.
That does not sound very pleasant at all.
I was thinking to get satellite installed from Bell people.

Do you have any exprience with that ? Do you know someone who has a bad experience in installing satellite from BELL ?

I had same type of horrible experience with Bell High Speed Internet. They could not fix it so finally I given up and switch the company.

Thanks for ur attention.

Well, I have not got installed the Dish from Bell Canada people and my Internet connection is from Rogers.

I am determined to expose the shabby attitude of Bell Canada thru best possible means.

How can they take us for a ride ?

Why don't you write one letter to the editor of The Toronto Star and I think this board is good enough to spread the word among desis.

I also have bad experiences with Bell Phone Services. Their tech support people are horrible .

I had problem with my home phone lines 3-4 months ago. To fix it they send 5 different technicians each time and each of them suggested different causes of a problem and different solutions. None of them were workable except from the last one - it was very small fix.

And you know, who was the last tech support person? It was a Desi - immigrated from Gujarat just a year ago!!!

My line was down for about 20 days!

Hi Garvo and Bio Med,

Thanks for your valuable advice and sharing the experience.

I am going to shoot an letter to Toronto Star and other leading newspapers of this region to expose Bell Canada. But doubt if they will bother to such issues !

I am glad that this forum is very active and an eye opener for all Desis to be aware of big names like Bell Canada.

However please advise the recourse for Consumer Court proceedings.
