Hello Friends,
I will be landing in Canada in 3-4 months.I wanted to know if it is advisable to bring kitchen utensils like pressure cooker, chakla, belan from India? Also please tell me if I can bring some masala like turmeric, chilli powder from india? Do Canada Customs allow to bring spices in the country ?(I have heard that New zealand and US donot allow spices).
What are the other things I should bring and I should avoid?
Any other tips and advices are most welcome.
Waiting for your replies and help.
thanks in advance.
Hi Global guajarati,
When i arrived in may 2006 in canada, that time i brought all the kitchen stuff and spices with me and they allowed me with all stuff. During immigration they asked me have you carried any food items with you? than i replied some of spices i am carrying with me, and they allowed me with my family. for kitchen stuff you can bring all items whatever you want. I am also gujarati i carried all my routine kitchen stuff with me and i did'nt face any problem while landing in canada.
you try to get more exp. from another person and than decide.? all the best.
Regards
Ritesh

Hi
I landed 6mths back . I carried all my required Kitchen stuff down to cutlery .
It really helps when you have to spend so much of money setting up a house here . things are pretty expensive here . so pls ship in all your Kitchen untensil .
I even got my Sumeet Grinder . and my other electronic appliance . I use a convertor to change the required voultage . It cost me $80 but i can use all the electronic insturtment ihad with me in Oman which would have to give away . i even use my blow dry with the convertor .
I shipped all my requried spices with my shippment . I had no trouble with the customs here . U should check their site . I did before i shipped my stuff .
If u have clear list of things u have in your cargo u will not have any trouble .
But u should not carry any wet or edible food with u in your lugage on flight . that will get u in trouble with the cutoms and delay u'r clearnce .
We saw a lot of people who carrried dried meat sauages and pickled food . they had to open all their bags .
Ship your spices . we did have cloves and whole grama masala in our lugage .
but the customs guys didn't bother becuz we had a very clear and explainator goods to follow list even the jewellery was listed down to the chains . so he was very happy and our clearnace at the airport was very quick without him check our bags . Be confident and clear in your answer everytime u meet any officer , and things wil be okay .
i hope this helps . It is just our expericence . do read the other exp on CD , that where i got all my info.
wish you all the best with your landing .
regards
jenny
