TN Visa Coming to Canada

Dear Friends,

Hello. I am on TN visa in US and planning to come to Canada. I just want to know whether the I-94 form which has TN Visa on my passport will be removed at airport and they will issue me a new I-94 when i enter US again. OR they will not remove I-94. Please advice. Thanks

Do not let them remove it if you intend to return to the US on that TN. It is always a multiple entry (even if it is not stamped "Multiple Entry" ) and you should remove it and keep it separate in case you are concerned about its removal.

I had a TN visa issued to me in 2005. I used only for 6 months. Did not bother to do anything with it. However, recently when I went via US the custom agent said something I did not understand. So trying to find out what are the rules? He said something like that TN was property of US govt.

Did u return your I-94. You have to return your I-94 so that they can update their record that you are no longer on TN Visa.

Correct. After completing your TN status or after coming back to Canada for good, you should return your I-94 to the cdn official upon arrival at the cdn airport/border crossing. That way, the US database has an updated information regarding your departure from the US and that makes your future US entries hassle free.
