A friend of mine will be immigrating to Canada on marriage grounds. She is a mechinical engineer (fresh grad) and wants to find out the prospectus of her getting a job in this field. I am an IT guy so don't know much about mechnical engineering field. I know that in India, girls would normally not go for Mechinical engineering as it is considered as a tuff field for girls. Any one here knows of the prospectus of her getting a good job in her field? I know that a lot depends on the person and her skills but I just want to know in general.

First, contrary to your subject line, it does not matter on opportunities whether you are male or female.
Mechanical engineers typically are in the areas of product design, product engineering, product testing/validation, etc.
A lot of companies look for a technical bachelor's degree for several positions. Based on her engineering degree and past work experience (if any), she can also be in the manufacturing sector as process engineer, manufacturing engineer, entry level sales/marketing, etc.
