Hi group

My mother will be viting me in April and will be with me for atleast 1 year. I would like to buy her medical insurance. I was wondering if any of you guys have done this before. If so, can you pls suggest some good insurance companies that I can approach.

Hi,

I do it for visitors all the time.

Does your mother have a pre-existing medical condition for which she is taking medication?

I know of several good companies. Also can show you a method of getting back what you paid.

take insurance from Bajaj Alliance in India. It is cheap and valid in Canada/USA. However, carry out your due diligence. My info is based on my friend's experience

Although the insurance for the visitors can be obtained here, but I invariably find it cheaper and more comprehensive from India.
P.S. Please buy the insurance for the protection and not for trying to get the money back.

ya, visitor insurance is cheaper in India. However, I can help you buying one for your mother.

I bought insurance for my parents from India. It was ICICI..... insurance. Walk-in clinics do not honour insurance from India, it may be good for ER admission. I had to pay cash for treatment and doctor refused to provide receipt for the payment

Did you manage to find something reasonable for your mother.My parents are coming here in May and would have to get them insurance too
