Hi,
I found this interesting ad on classifieds in CD. Looks like the nigerian scammers have found a new route to scammerland. I know the web masters have too many things to do than keep these pests away, but CD members, please make other desi's aware of the Nigerian scammers.

We are trying to catch these kinds of ads but somehow they gets in. We should be more careful now. Thanks for this one.
Having CD banned in a library is not good for us. I am not sure what can we do about it.

I am able to access Canadian Desi website from the Missisauga Library, I donot see where it is banned.
I don't buy it. That's why I didn't respond to the library thing.
If anybody knows of the location of a library that has banned CD, let me know. We can definately write the librarian a letter demanding an explanation.

Hey BL,
It would be nice if you can implement an ip filter that gives you the geographic location of the user. Some websites already do that. That way you can avoid these nigerian scammers.

We've thought about that, however the issue is it will block people who're not scammers too.
For the classifieds, the process is that people submit it, we reivew them AND they become visible in the section ONLY if they're approved. This takes care of a lot of junk (and believe me, we get a lot of that). Some of this however slips through, its a good thing that we have vigilant members pointing such stuff out.
