I know this might have been discussed before but asking once again for refreshed suggestions .

For a new bachelor Immigrant who wishes to stay at a location in Toronto from the point of view of searching for jobs , attending interviews - which are the recommended locations from point of view of proximity to

a. Ease in commuting .
b. Grocery Stores.
c. Public Services like libraries or free Internet / Job Searching .
d. Banks .

Kindly share places which are suitable in above respects and getting PG accomodation may be easy.

Thanks ,

Manasvi.

Somewhere near the Islington Subway Station is the most desirable if you want to use the transit for searching jobs.
It is 30 mins. to downtown or 30 mins to Mississauga.
Donot stay in Scarborough. It is at one end of the city. It is very far from Mississauga and Brampton.

I agree with TK here. I moved out in 3 mths from Scarborough(where I first lived when I landed). It proved too inconvenient because my job was in miss.
I moved close to Islington subway which was convenient for my commute as well as the wifes(close to scarborough). I personally think its a good location for those who are just settling in, but I'm not sure how much the neighbourhood has changed(this was almost 10 yrs ago).

Islington Subway Station area details.

Municipality - Etobicoke
Intersection - Islington / Bloor.

- Downtown is 30 mins in subway (Subway Station is a minute away)
- There is a bus station in the subway station.
- Mississauga buses also come to the station.
- There is a school very close to the subway station..

In terms of shopping or you know evening walks, certainly the area doesn't look good or atleast I could say, it is not as lively as SquareOne Mississauga.
Otherwise if commute is the major factor then this could be considered.

Good luck.

Cheap Shopping is a problem in this area. What i would suggest is that you do your shopping when you return from work to your home. Outside Runnymede station is No Frills. Shop there and bring it home. Once you have a bus pass then you have unlimited rides/ travels. 24 hour Rabba (a bit costly) is walkable from here. also there is one direct bus to Dundas-Hwy 10 (30 mis ride)which is Pucca desi area. There is also a cheap chinese shop selling groceries/veg/meat here.
I would suggest 4029 old dundas street. it is 3 or 4 stops from the subway by TTC bus no 30. The rent for 1 bed basement is $650 (all incl..)- Note , i am not connected to this apt.. I lived there and i found that i could be in islington subway in 10 mins (i had bus pass). It is a safe Gora area. All apts. near islington subway are $900 +
There are some good walking spots near by (esp. near Dundas and Islington ~ a stone's throw away).

Thanks JRF & TK

I think when I stayed @ Msg with friends 3 years back , I used to change buses / subway @ Islington which was midway b/w Down Town and Msg .

Then I have experienced Horrantorio / Dundas area also which was also not bad . My point of view for asking for an advise was - since as a new settling bachelor Immigrant I need good commuting plus some HRDC area close by and of course some grocery stores .

Bloor /Islington --- wud it be a better place then surrounding Islington subway stan.... Pls pardon me if my geog understanding is incoherent .

Regds ,

Manasvi

PS : Hows Down Town in this aspect . I have heard its got the best transportation . Thks once agin TK for the recommendation .
