Hello friends ,

I am new to this forum so excuse my ignorance. I am a H-1B visa holder currently in US , and got Canadian PR last year. I am planning to move sometime in August-Sept this year (2006). I am trying to line up some interviews (I am in the IT field - DBA to be precise) so that I can land a job before I move permanently.I am willing to come to Canada for interviews if required. (I prefer GTA area)

I have over 13 years of IT experience (7 in India , 6 in US -Mostly Financial heavyweights like Bank of America, State Street etc). I have solid(US) DBA experience (Sybase & MS SQLserver on UNIX/Windows with Unix shell programming, replication, DTS etc.), Development experience (Sybase /MS SQL , C,C++,Visual C++-- before becoming a DBA) and older databases (Foxpro, clipper, foxbase etc- before 1995).

I would request Canadiandesi IT folks to provide any information on job leads/openings they have known. Also , if anyone can provide a list of recruiters / IT staffing companies who have good clients/openings , it will be immensely appreciated.

May God bless us all

Silence means one more person tried to ask the same old question without surfing CD.

Read the posts. Read the articles. You will get the answers.

Best of Luck.

Fitting reply for people who don't want to waste their time searching on CD for past discussions and expect others to be sitting around free waiting to answer what ever they ask on the board :D

Well friends..

No offences meant , but it seems to me that CD is not a forum for newcomers like me , but has been monopolized by a select few.

As I mentioned in my post, I am just a newcomer seeking some advice . Obviously, being a newcomer I might not have read all the posts and articles. I work 8-10 hours a day with my Boss peeping over my shoulder all the time and have very little time to browse all topics and posts. At home , busy with the family.

I am aware of the job situation in Canada and how difficult it is to get a Job in one's own field of expertise. Thats why I thought by posting a sort of mini-resume, I would attract responses of a few senior CDs who could provide guidance and advise to a new immigrants in networking and job search.

And believe me, helping or guiding a newcomer will not cost you anything from your pocket but will increase the ranks of your well-wishers..

Good luck and God bless you all!

Send your resume to the Job agents. If you want I can give you email addresses of the agents that I know.
