I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Known to all, Experience is more important than having the PMP certification.
Still PMP certification is a must at all level be it project manager or a coordinator, integrator or even otherwise for anybody who is part of any project. In some organisation it is observed as important inputs for managment to promote one to next level. Easier for them to justify the promotion. It gives your signature block a kind of sophistication when you are sending instructional mails to people in your organisation.
It is indeed an important resume filter for certain jobs if you ask a recruiter.
Having certification is more gain for lead positions than the technical positions where tech knowledge and relevant experience matters.
Overall good confidence booster in your career. no substitute.
