( we have tones of NRIs who merely bring India down because it is trendy to do so when you live abroad).

ARen't you doing the same.........bringing India down so sound trendy???

Criticize the bad things that happen...........do not criticize only India and Indians since other nationalities have the same traits too.

Don't say you want to find a true Indian, say you would like to do something to make Indians proud. Don't say what is bad about Indians, say what should be done to improve systems and problems in India.

Hope your half, or full, or more than full brain will understand a simple thing like that.

You seem to have called yourself a successful CA - obviously you are humble in addition to being courteous.. A degree or success in the commercial world does not obviously mean that you have the politeness to conduct a civil conversation. If you do not agree with something there are civilzed ways of getting your point across.

I am not doing any of what I am doing because it is trendy. I am stating things as I see it. We have plusses and we have minusses. So I have chosen to highlight some of our negatives in order to make us realise that we have some. Recognizing our weaknesses is the first step to correcting them.

Maybe other nationalities have bad traits too...but I have chosen to look at those of my own countrymen first. By stating that others have bad traits does not excuses us from having some too.

I have done my share to make Indians proud. But I do not need to get into those topics with the likes of you. If you can conduct a civil conversation please continue or else find someone at your own premium level of intelligence and aggression to chat with.

I did a google search but could not find it.
Thanks

LOL!!! Bongs is slang for Bengalis. Unfortunately heated as some just refuse to get the point and then when faced with an opposing view - get aggressive. A pity...but sadly proves one of the many points I was trying to get across.
For them nationalistic pride and patriotism is equated to never criticising your own people. We impose more restrictions on ourselves than any dictator has ever been able to!!!

Take care.

"True Indian" here we go defining .... This is just an attempt to define, t

There certainly are neumerous ways to define this complex term

1. Who is certainly born in India :D
2. Understands, respects, follows and preaches the "Values" of being an
Indian to others ( others meaning, Non-Indian borns, Not -True
Indians, ABCDs) :D
Indian values being - Respectful to others, seniors, parents and
other relatives and family members, obidient,
religious, cultured, respects other's views, helping in nature, underrstands family values

3. Remeber this Dialougue from a Famous Film

" Not everyone who goes to temple regularly is a Pujari / preist / or even a Bhakt" - but get a general respect of being religious and sincere.

" Not everyone who goes into a Bar everyday is a drunkard either"
- But cerrtainly gets tainted. and is called a spoiled person.

The moral of being a good Indian is

- Do not do anytihng that will tarnish the image of the country India
- Do things that will make the country and countrymen proud to say
they are Indians

To me it does not matter whether you live in India or abroad, all that matters is how well are you follwing the Indian Values.

Good attempt at a definition...however I have one minor objection...my children were both born outside India,,,but I feel they fulfill all the other conditions that you define...I would still call them Indians...many are born in a land but display little respect to it and its values and heritage....whilst the contrary may be true as well....possible?
