Nuthin to confirm here. He died in 1938. He was born in Sialkot.
He died in Lahore and is buried there. So he didnt need to move anywhere after partition.

It is something called figure of speech. The poet is not literally talking about Gandhi being wounded by Britishers. He is referring to the freedom struggle spearheaded by Gandhiji.
