Hello Fellow Desis,

Happy to see this community. I signed up just today. I am in the process of moving to Canada, Quebec to be specific, with my Husband. I desperately need all your inputs and siggestions for the dilemma that I'm in.

Initially, the thought of moving to Montreal(tourists have a great view about this city) was exciting and we have applied for the CSQ with an interview happening soon. We currently live in US.

The dilemma now is most people, not necesarily only Indians, seem to be hating Quebec including montreal. I've heard that we(anglophones) never get accepted into their society and are always treated differently. I'm an intermediate speaker in French and can manage public situations in French. My Husband is just starting out to learn French and this is an uphill task for him. Leaving the language problem alone - I wanted to know how easy/hard it will be to integrate into the local society and also do resonably well in the job? I've also heard that we(non francophones) are not at all given credit at work causing career stagnation despite having qualifications. Any employers in montreal or quebec that are open to us?

Hearing so many things in the negative only frightens me. US is wonderful - truly the land of oppurtunities and I've never ever encountered any issues here. How do you desis manage there, especially at work?

I'm curious to read anything that you might have. Thanks for your time.
