If you are going to try a VOIP phone you may as well try a cheaper service than Rogers - Primus or Vonage. Rogers doesn't seem much cheaper than a landline phone from Bell. They just have teaser offers for the first 3 months or so.
I have heard good things about Primus. If you go with Vonage be sure to read the fine print about cancelling within a year; their charges are pretty stiff. Not sure about Primus in that regard.
i just switched my phone line from bell to primus..19.99 per month for 6 months..its been a month..no problem at all..i was paying 45 bucks for just the basic..and no contract...can always change the phone company..
