I forgot to prepare and present the list of goods to follow when I landed for the first time. After getting the PR card I went back to Riyadh. Now I am planning to move to Canada for good. Can I present the list of goods to follow now to the customs in Canada? If not how can I get my goods in without incurring the customs duty?
I would appreciate any valuable advise and thanks for the response in advance.
When you land, that is the time to do it.
That time has gone.
I do not know of any method to save duty now.
However they are not going to touch your two bags if they contain used items and you are wearing normal jewellery. Thats about it.
Best way is to sell your stuff there and buy it here.
You can use thrift stores if do not want to pay more.
In any case no use lugging around used items, unless they have sentimental value.
Two bags are enough for sentimental stuff.
Not 2 worry !!
I had landed in 2003 and when the officer asked me how long I was planning 2 stay - I replied 02 weeks . He informed me that I could get the list of goods next time when I entered more permanently .
U can use the same excuse. On a short landing it doesnt make sense for a list of goods to follow either .

Wow! That sounds great!
When you do it please give a feedback.
It will benefit a large number of people.
Is it in writing!
Why not get it confirmed ?

I am not 100% positive and may be wrong about this, but I remember reading somewhere that if you are out of Canada for 1 year or more, anything you import is duty free (I think its called Returning Resident privilege). In which case you could simply prepare a Goods to Follow list when you come to Canada now and get it stamped at port of entry. Then when your goods arrive you can show the stamped list and have duty waived. Pls. check this up on the Customs website and update the post with your findings.
