Hi,

I have looked, but have not come across any british desi migrants. If there are any?
I would like to know, because we are considering making a move.

I have read about \"canadian experiance\" - how much does it differ from \"British experiance\" - in terms of skills. I am from a background of I.T Software Support, and would like to know what prospects are there especially in vancouver.

Secondly - how long does it take from the UK to move - ( estimate)

p.s- If anyone is curious why we are moving from the UK is , quality of life is not there.

cheers

in what way do you mean quality of life is not there?

I am looking for a way to immigrate to UK from Canada.

let me tell you one thing. I have the experience of being in both place and I would not leave the UK for anything. I want to know which area are you planning to settle in. Take my advice if you are in London, UK. Dont leave it . It is better out there.

I am just curious- what do you mean by the quality of life it not there in the UK?

The weather is better for starters.

Are they friendly to immigrants out there. Canada is not too friendly with imigrants- they ask for canadian experience everywhere. Does UK ask for UK experience.?

Where were you in UK? i have a differnet impression of the UK and think that you can add to my impression of that place by replying to this.

I had lived in UK for five years and am now in Canada.
UK life was the best ever.
My advice,Do NOT make a mistake in leaving UK.
It is the life's many small things which make up a good whole life.

Oh! how I miss:
- The worlds best cuisine and restaurants (believe me, most eat outs here are fake eg the indian, chinese restaurants, nothing original)
- The live soccer and cricket matches
- The English Pubs, Snooker and dart games
- The English fish & chips and the pastries
- Andy Capp in the daily newspaper
- The daily Soccer and cricket chatter (Never get this in Canada)
- The SUN newspaper
- Sunday cricket in the london parks
- Central location: Europe, Asia, Dubai, America, Africa. Just a few hours away.
- London Transport, British Rail etc.
- The British sense of humour
- The cheerful work environment
- Sunrise radio etc, etc.

This place, compared to UK is:
- more racist (subtle, therefore more damaging)
- more stressful (evident on faces in shopping malls etc. Skytrains can feel like a funeral procession, not a smile around). London Underground is far more lively.
- freezing colder
- Ice hockey is the favourite topic.

Although there are a few advantages here but as mentioned earlier, it is the life's small things....
These are my personal views.
People born or living here for a long time may find here better.
