Thanks Chandresh, The-Entreprenuer and Jayaram in bringing different perspective to this debate. As i am reading it now, i want to know from the group what your experience has been with respect to Canadian Private schools. Most of the comparisons here considers community school with the elite private schools of india and not the govt funded schools or the regular state sylabus schools in India. i feel the discussion would be appropriate if we can compare the Private schools of canada with Schools of India

Looking forward to your views

Thanks

I fully acknowledge your views.

I have seen what primary education is, in Indian School at Muscat and also in a Convent at Bombay. My son is 7 years now and both of us (my wife and myself) take keen interest in understanding the impact education and schooling make on our son.

Being able to lead a happy, fulfilled and so-called successful life, one has to apply learning principles in real life - individually and in group settings. And, not only theory and blind competition to be no.1 in class in terms of academics! Application orientation is something I found less stressed in Indian schools.

Given the picture portrayed by Chandreshbhai of the Canadian education system / schooling, I am encouraged to see progress of my son in a Canadian School. I will be landing in next month and will be completing necessary formalities in this side of life too.

Thanks Chandreshbhai for those insights.

With warm regards,

What is the monthly fee bill in a private school in Toronto for a grade 5 child?

Mr. Badshah.....

You have two Options :

Option 1

Let your kids study in India......and have the best brains and minds........but would be a misfit in canada....because in Canada skills are not easily accepted.......you kids will wander from one placement agent to another......NO FUTURE...........

Option 2

Let your kids be born n brought up in Canada......they might be weak academically......may not go all the way to University.......but will be Canadianised.........will talk like, act like, behave like the ORIGINAL Canadian with accent.......in short...they will have the FREQUENCY of native Canadians.........Result - SUCCESS IN CANADA.........

Now you decide what you want..........

At the age of 40, if I am planning to immigrate to canada , it is surely with a major interest to give my kids better education. Hence I want to know whether the candian school system at grade 3/4 is better as compared to Indian education system/ or else kids should be sent to canada after completing class 12 from Indian schools.

I agree with Mr.Chandresh. No student can pass learning things by heart! A child in grade 3 is expected to write questions for solutions provided, research the stuff given etc. I remember my kid writing atleast 5 pages of home work back in the UAE but here she gets just 3 of them of which I am supposed to grade her on a "Read At Home" project wherein she reads a small story, explains the principal character and state a different title and ending to the story whereas she would not touch any other book apart from academics a year ago! I hope she does well in the EQAO. My son in Grade 7 is the darling of his teachers with exceptionally good scores in math (while he found the cbse stuff a bit difficult!). I am sure that by the time they reach grade 12, they are independent in their thoughts and actions, they understand life better, and decide what they want to do with their lives. And as parents, we can become a guiding force for them so that they dont go in a wrong direction!

How about shifting kids(born here) from grade 2 or grade 3 to India (New delhi) and bring them back to canada when they are done class 10. Of course we will be with them when they go schooling in India.

I have seen public school education here from close quaters as my 2 neices are in grade 7 and 3. Mind you they were born here and go to one of the very reputed public school here, but still there grades are nothing to talk about. And beware kids do get neglected here as both of the parents have to work to meet their ends, and have very little or no time to spend with their kids, who just end up watching TV or video games to kill the time as they are given very less or no home work.

My friend sons are in grade 11 and 9. And he is really keeping disturbed off late regarding his sons as they spend almost no time studying when at home, dont know what they do in school.

No wonder 65 - 70% students do not get qualified or drop out on their own from university education. When you can earn handsome doing plumbing, drywalling etc. Why do you want to make life miserable by studing. Thats the theory of average canadian child.

On the other hand my friend who arrived from india in 2002 with his daughter who was in grade 6 is flourishing in studies over 90% marks.

I have absolutely no faith in this so called canadian schooling. Not everybody is blessed with the brilliant mind chandresh kid's have.

Well every body has different thinking, I dont know how my kids will perform when they start going to school. But I definately want to pass my country's culture, history ect to them and protecting them against all the abusethat happens in public school, by moving back to india with my kids for a while.
