Mabelle Ave is a decent place with decent sized apartments and good connectivity both to Missisauga / Toronto ... Please go through the following thread for other apartments in Etobicoke ...

Avoid staying in Down Town ... The more further you come out the more access to play grounds and community areas you would get ... DT is ok for bachelors or live in couples ...

Am not very interested in living downtown, it's only due to my husband's commute to work. Suaga apts are very costly around 1500 which is way over my budget, can't spend half the salary on rent! am looking at max 1200. Once I get a decent job then I can think of condos. Only have 2 more weeks to make the move!

Check out Princess Management and their Apartments . Decent buildings in decent neighborhoods with good maintenance ... Mabelle / surrounding areas are also good ..... Take 2 weeks more but go in for a good apartment after searching ..You will be staying in it for years ... I prefer an East or South facing balcony and no busy intersections to minimize noise .

From my experience, Mabelle ave / Cordova ave apartments are not bad, they are OK.. they have decent pool, gym, squash court and park next door for your kid, school is just next door.
Rent used to be around 1000 CAD ( may want to check).

Then again, 1477 Mississauga Valley Blvd, a two bedroom rent is $1287, a single bedroom might cost bit cheaper, note that it is not a condo but close to the square one area..

Lalitha,
Please set your priorities like :
1. Access to subway station or bus stop outside door step.
2. No basements , only apartments
3. Desi crowd (labourer , professional).
4. Close access to shopping (or food banks, soup kitchens, IKEA, Chinese super markets )
5. Less crowded drop in centres, good libraries. Drop in centres should not cater to predominantly single mother parents, refugees etc..
6. Max rent possible. Does your apartment need to have gym, swimming pool etc..
7. Do you want to work at some point of time ? (COnsidering the age of your child, this looks like a remote possibility)

then we can zero you on to some potential places. Right now it looks like we are shooting in the dark.

Peace by Murali

Close to food banks? Any specific reason?

Thanks for the suggestions.
I have started searching for suaga apts and saw one for 1250 in 145 hillcrest avenue. JRF's suggestion too looks good. Am planning to visit the places tomorrow afternoon.
My budget started at 1100 and now its inching closer to 1300! If I get good desi network for spending more I would be more than happy. Sitting at home is very depressing for me and daughter as well. Need to go out and meet people.
TK - I have already said that commute is important, for work and shopping too.
