Recently migrated to Canada, worked in India and Middle East for world wide reputed companies. Having good education.

I contacted some placement services for jobs, found people are not welcoming showing bad attitude. Im surprised the way placement agents work. They make money because of job seekers. Human resource managers think they have arrived from heaven.

If people do not take new comers, how will they get canadian experience?

Viola ji:

I will try to offer my personal views from an unbiased perspective.

1) The duty of placement agencies is to select resources that can sustain and survive the demands of a job. Perhaps, they might not have found these qualities in you.

2) I have no idea of your qualifications or educational levels but a prospective employer would be put off by the grammatical errors in your above feedback.

3) It’s not the responsibility of the employers or placement agencies to give newcomers the opportunity to help develop Canadian experience at their expense.

Sorry for being harsh but with constant training and learning, things will slowly turn in your favor. I know some friends who have gone back to college in Canada to get that exposure and experience.

Good luck.

Rajagopal,

I have managed to get a job on my own. Currently, I'm working for a reputed financial company. Even I did my studies to get into financial firm in Canada.
I attended a job fair and secured a position for myself.

Well known agencies have attitude problem. They do not even look at the resume, how can they judge a person. I found agencies so poor in handling the job seekers. I used my own means of getting job.

You cannot be harsh and sorry. Choose one. Thanks for your views.

I heard people saying, you are new and will not get job soon because you do not have canadian experience. I wandered where did they come from and how did they manage to get jobs? Why ask for our previous experience, if it is not valid? Government provides skilled immigration status only if your qualifications and experiences are worth it. I agree with you certain skills need some education from Canada but not all. They is training period in every firm, also I heard people get lay off. What is a big deal in apointing new people, if they are not good than terminate them. Give them a chance to prove.
I met some good people moving from agency to agency.

I wanted to know, why a problem in Canada to get good jobs?

Hi Viola

Could you clarify "working for a reputed financial company" .

Regarding Rajagopal's views....your second post also contains grammatical errors...take views expressed by CD's as constructive criticism and work towards writing posts with less errors..

I am also in the financial industry and could be of help...send me a PM and then we will connect

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Best regards

Lali

Yes the placement services recruiters are idiots who think themselves of smart "ass"ets in Canada. I dont know if they have teleprompter installed somewhere which just feeds them how to be rude. They act as if they are the experts of the field and knows more than you or even the hiring manager. The sad part of it is that even with the online world, the employers still prefer to go through these agencies and most of the times loose out on great talent.
But at least for now, one has to live with this fact.
Oh BTW, Welcome to Canada and congratulations on your new job!. Many would say you are lucky to get the job so quickly on your own as many are still struggling with this stupid concept of Canadian experience.

bhoothnath has summed up to the point. We know the rules and we need to play our cards accordingly.

Recruiters loyalty is not candidate, it is to the companies that pay his commission. Don’t expect a recruiter to be personally interested in candidate. It is upto us to make him understand what a great asset you would be to his clients and to him.

I have seen many candidate, especially in financial and IT sector, where they got the job within short period of time. Till date I have not experienced any attitude related problem or unwelcomeness from recruiter.

It is good to know that you managed to got the job on YOUR OWN. Just curious to know what kind of job we get from job fair ? When I have visited JF ( in 2010) they use to offer financial advisor jobs (from reputed financial firm like Primerica, Investor Group and Sunlife) , CSR job with bank. I have not seen any job for CAs/ MBAs. I have submitted my resume to TD bank booth and they told me that this is not right place for you to apply. They are recruiting for entry level jobs.

I am also not too happy with them all the time. I understand they have their own JUSTIFIED resons why they do that.

I think recruiters are overwhelmed with no. of resumes they get specially as they charge no fees to the candidate unlike india ...

I found they do not respond calls, but if they start replying each persons call they can not get anything done.

well they need to do wht they have to do but as a candidate what upsets me is they post jobs without having any opening to collect reumes, they meet u just to keep their data base ready ...and i m mad that now i ve wasted my time, gas +parking to go and back + a day off work if already working for no immediate result and who knows abt future but then thats the choice we can make to go or not to go ...
