Would really appreciate urgent advise and comments
I am a PR Card holder and my PR card is valid till July ,2012.Due to some unavoidable reasons I have been able to stay in Canada for only 2 months in the last 4 years and my last visit to Canada was in July-August 2010. Now my employer in India wants me to visit Canada for a month for business meetings and today morning I consulted with a visa officer at the inquiry window of Canadian high commission in Delhi to understand if I can travel to Canada on my valid PR card or if I need to get a business visa , and the visa officer told me to apply for travel documents through VFS and then VFS would issue me a temporary resident permit.
When I spoke to VFS about the process to apply for the travel documents they told me that they would not be able to process my application for travel documents as I already have a valid PR card and travel documents are issued to someone who has either lost his PR card card or the PR card has expired while the holder is out of Canada .
I have been regularly filing my IT returns in Canada ,have maintained a bank account till date which is active and have got valide G2 licence as well.
1) Could someone please advise if I could still travel on my valid PR card and show all the documentary proofs of staying in India for a longer period to the immigration officer at the Canadian airport without getting a business visa or travel documents.(As all the reasons were serious and genuine like someone's death, legal cases of property and illness etc)
2)if I have to take the travel documents then what would be the validity of the travel documents issued by VFS ,Will it be valid till the time my PR card is valid i.e. till July 2012 or it will be good only for one visit.
3) Will I need temporary resident permit as well if I get my travel documents ?
4) And what is the best way to save my residency at this stage or have I already lost it ?
Thanks

1. You can enter in Canada using valid PR, if you travel before PR Expiry.
2. I don't think you need to apply for any "temporary residency" if you are visiting for ONE MONTH and returning to India before PR Expiry, PR is itself a valid residency untill expiry.
3. At POE, You have to declare last departed date from Canada, they may ask a reason for returning after long time, you will be able to explain your situation.
4. After PR expiry, you may face a challenge to renew it because, you have to be in Canada at least 2yrs out of 5yrs PR Validity.
5. If you have spouse or children who also PR and have completed 2yr requirement, you may be able to get renewal with reasonable situation/reasons.
6. If there is none family member PR, chances of your PR Renewal is very little. CIC can refuse to renew on a ground of "YOU HAVE NO INTETION TO LIVE IN CANADA".
**Do not give up hope, individual's situations always bring different/positive outcomes.
