Hi,

We are currently Indian Citizens living in UK on ( UK and Canadian PR ). We have already completed the landing process and we have the CA PR card with us. We need to go back to Canada by 8 Sept 12 to be able to keep up the Canadian PR ( 2yrs will remaining out of 5yrs by 8th Sep 2012, landed 9th Sep 09).

We are currently eligible for UK Citizenship and are planning to apply shortly. We are also planning for a baby. We are not sure where to deliver the baby, either in Ind, UK or Canada. Please note that once we get UK citizenship we will loose Indian Citizenship.

Can someone please shed some light on the options, plus and negative points of delivering baby in the above countries, benefits for baby, parents, complications, etc keeping in mind the visa requirements for both baby and us, medical, housing etc.

We would like your advise and guidance in deciding this at the earliest.

Thanks,

if you are happy in UK and planning to settle there, why do you want to come to Canada or India? Delivering a baby is no walk in the park!

My suggestion is go for Canadian Delivery.

UK is going the DESi way. It will be another Karol Bagh or New Friends Colony in the next 30 years.

As UK is not part of EU will you still get any work permit benefits if your child wants to work in the EU when grown up?.

If the kid is born in Canada it can still grow up in Canada or migrate to USA.

It will not need a passport to travel/work in EU.

Your kid will not loose its Indian Citizenship as you could get a OCI for it by your link and then it could be converted into a Indian passport if he/she wants that in future.

MY STRONG VOTE is FOR CaNaDA !.

Yeah! YEAH ! I hear you that both Mississauga &/or Brampton will become another Dharavi in the next 30 years.

Sunny Leone a true Canadian DESI now back in India !.

-- Canada is no different. I like the "Dharavi" comment you made!

-- Yes, you lose Indian citizenship - OCI is not a citizenship. And if you get Indian passport in the future, you have to renounce your foreign citizenship.

The best scenario would be to deliver the baby in UK - if you are a PR of UK (or british citizen at the time of baby's birth). That way the baby can be a british citizen and then you move to Canada with the baby. The baby will not need a visa for the entry in Canada - then apply for baby's PR in Canada which will ultimately result in baby's Canadian citizenship. Baby becomes british-cdn!

Thanks for your replies, others please voice out your ideas and thoughts.

what if in future we decide to settle down in India, what will be child's situation in terms of visa, education fees etc. As we all know that India will be next big economy in next 10 yrs or so and we believe the Indian competitive education system makes you mentally strong and globally competitive. Not to forget about the Indian values and cultural upbringing.

Is there a way to get Indian citizenship for baby first and then give up Indian citizenship and get dual uk and canada, if Indian citizenship matters a lot for studying and working in India for baby's future.

Thanks,

Also note the deadline by which we should CA back, by which time the mother and baby should be physically ready. Also will baby need visa to ca to travel with us. by then our status would be uk citizen and ca pr.

Thanks,

Also note the deadline by which we should enter CA back, by which time the mother and baby should be physically ready and visa process should have completed by then. Also will baby need visa to ca to travel with us. by then our status would be uk citizen and ca pr.

If 5-6 month pregnant mother travels to Canada, how quick can she get the medical assistance, as we haven't registered to any hospital or GP in canada.

Finally CA vs UK, which one has the best standard of living ( job, single income, buying power, saving power, buying property, education, vacation, socializing with Indian community and with Canadians etc...

Thanks,
