This is not true. You can apply for a SIN card even if the child is under 14. My child got it at age 7 (that's when we applied).
Not to go off track, but SIN # is required not only for getting a job, but for various other purposes. For eg. in order to open an RESP a/c, the bank requires a SIN card. If you wait until 14 to open an RESP a/c, you've missed the bus.

I am glad that whoever have received their child's sin number is happy......how good it is....I got it a little mixed up. Human's make mistakes...right? not monkies.... thank you again and please have those replies coming....i truly appreciate them
