I have recently moved to canada. in January will be getting my wife and 1 year old baby. I am planning to stay in Mississagua, ON. My Queries are

Who is a good child specialist in that area ?

how do i go about identifying one ?

Do they give an appointment for me to talk with them before the baby comes to Canada?

How much do they charge ?

and finally is there any medical records / prescriptions we need to bring from India?. Thanks in advance

depends on where you'll be living in mississauga. You need to get a family doc and a pediatrician close to you, at the most 15 mins drive. You can search for the docs accepting patients on:

In the above website, search for family doc/pediatricians. The info on patients accepting>yes/no may not be updated. Call the Docs office to inquire.

You need OHIP card first to register as a patient. This will happen 3 months after your baby lands in canada.

with OHIP, no charge. With 3rd party health insurance, it depends on the Doc....

Not for the kids unless there has been some kind serious physical record the new doc should know.

good point gujju. I didn't realise that the baby is only 1 yr old. Yes, he needs to show what kind of shots the baby already had.
