on a serious note..For someone who is 40 Plus with a Govt job in India, it will be a sea of change here. i would recommend, that your friend go through all the articles and past views here on CD and make a decision.

Better still, let him first come to canada...ALONE and check out the conditions here before making the \"final push\".

I compare Canada to a life saving drug ..If it suits you nothing like it but if doesn't than you might have to live wil side effects all your life ....
One of my friend landed here with a job of 80,000 ( managed to get internal co. transfer with sister concern ) talks only HIGH about Canada .. And there are people who struggle to get a surviving job ( Enough of them )...
In these circumstances it is almost impossible to DECIDE for your friend ..

The best age to immigrate Canada is between 18 and 30. If you're in your 40s and have a stable job in India (Central Govt. - nothing like it), then the immigration won't do any good at all.

Tell your friend about all the positive and negatives and then the end decision will be his and his only...

Take care..

My friend did land in Edmonton, Alberta in the first week of August, found a contract job in two weeks time in his field $ per hour and seem very happy with his move. He now wants to bring his wife in Oct itself as otherwise it might jeoparadise the school admission etc. Please tell me if this is a decent money to run a family of three, wife might hopefully pick up a job once she lands. How long ppl work like this? what is the security for these jobs.
Please share if you have any thoughts on this.
Regards

To be honest, $16/hr is not a decent money to raise a family of 3.

Don't you guys see that the OP is not asking a Yes or no any more - his friend is already here. Now his question is quite different.

Why is your friend using you as a proxy to ask questions on this forum and since he has already landed in Canada and is working, he should know better that $16/hour is NOT a 'decent' salary to raise a family:confused:
