You have not stated:
1. When did you apply for immigration and under what category?
2. From where did you apply?
3. What is your husband's profession and years of experience?
4. What is your profession and years of experience?
Responses are going to change when you state the above.
Just to give you an example, if you say you applied 4-5 years ago in independent skilled worker category from India, may be your case processing is just around the corner and you could be landing soon.
If you say you applied 6 months ago, you might be waiting another 4-6 years for processing from India.

Assuming that you are Indian and have applied in India :
It might be aound 4-5 years to get your visa from the date of filing. Having a kid during the later stages of your processing can set you back by 6-8 months. Also note that for many people the visa is issued with just 30 days to spare. In those circumstances, if you are in advanced stages of pregnancy, then the aircraft will deny to board you.
Also if the kid is born in Canada, it will be a Canadian citizen from day 1. Hospital charges are free in Canada but if your kid is born in the winter, it is advisable for you to have a car to transport the child.
Just some senarios.

So, it could be another 2-4 years before you land in Canada (or 5 to 7 years of your marriage). Add some more time for land and find job, etc.
For a teacher, you might have to study, write qualifying exams, etc.

It would be tough with a newborn to study, etc.
Jake3D might be able to throw light on prospects of "visual effects" field.
If you husband is principal applicant, he can land alone first. You get approximately one year after your medical exam (not from date of visa issue) to land.
