What he said has been said so many times ad nauseam over many centuries by so called rationalists/ scientists/ skeptics and many others. There is a whole bunch of literature on this matter. Scientists conducted a number of empirical studies and published results - both for and against. There is a whole bunch of books on this precise topic in the Mississauga libraries. It is fairly well understood that there are a number of things at play here than a few obscure calculations.

Mr. ThinkingOne: Since you seem to have stepped on some sensitive "toes", you may want to take the time to read a few of these books or atleast some of the stuff that is available on the net. To simplify, I list some of the more useful sites. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Dear Mr. ThinkingOne,

The mere fact that you are in this forum reading msgs indicates that there is a sense of curiousity if not belief/faith. I think that is perfectly OK. Let me try to answer your question(s) with a slightly different approach.

Leaving aside extreme cases (nuts) who tend to live by daily astrology predictions in the news papers, what do people who study sade Sade Saati, etc., do? I think they do these:

1) try to become pious;
2) try to focus their minds and energies and do "Sani japam";
3) try to be humble, feed needy people, abhor excesses/arrogance;
4) try to be prepared for a difficult period in life;
5) try to interact with wise and experienced people;
6) try to avoid depression/disillusionment/inaction;
7) introspect about life, failures, successes, meaning of life, etc.

Astrology or no astrology, what is wrong with the above? If some one does some or all of the above in the name of astrology, then all the more power to astrology.

My own experience has been the following.
Till about 3 years ago, Saturdays were particularly difficult in that there were a lot of unnecessary travel mostly for no worthwhile reason. Also mischief makers at office or outside would come out of their way to give trouble. Many times lost my temper.
Ever since I started believing the role of Saturn, I am particularly careful on Saturdays. Visit Shiva temple, apart from main deity, offer special prayers to Ganesha, Hanuman and Sanishwar. Also chant God’s name in mind as many times as possible. The results are very encouraging. The problems faced on Saturdays are almost non existent. Though said to be affected with Ashtama Sani even got a pay rise of 25% within one year.
