Yeah but most are obscure ones. You know nowadays they just award people right left and centre. The ones that counted for me were 4 incl. "best freelance journalist review in Canada". It was in the Toronto Sun. I believe it's still on their canoe.ca site.

Won plenty of awards for reviews since the 70's but never 13 for one. This was the first. It's just there are certificates and awards for sweet f- all, nowadays.

Nowadays, getting a certificate or award doesn't have the same ring as it did several years ago. Ask GG. I offered him a certificate from the House of Commons for his participation as a media partner in M!M!M! and asked him for the name he wanted printed on the certificate - 'Canadiandesi' or 'www.canadiandesi.com' and he hasn't answered till date which would suggest that such a certificate means zilch- 'cos he probably has so many other awards/certificates that one more is no big deal.

There was one I wrote on Shakira last year that I did not expect to win any awards but it still won.

And then there was one I wrote on Clapton that I expected to win several awards but only won 1.

Here it is - I just gotta blow my horn.

‘God’ graces Toronto!

On Sept. 24, 2006, at the Air Canada Centre in the mighty T.O., the Robert Cray band really warmed up the crowd with some great blues, setting the mood for Slowhand’s unreal performance. "God" Clapton walked onto stage, with an inelaborate look - close-cropped hair, a simple pair of spectacles, dressed down, no fancy duds - and onto a carpet demarcating his area, and perhaps suggesting to the crowd to get ready for a real magic carpet ride to the heavens! And so it was, as he played his guitar and played his guitar and again played his guitar, reiterating over and over again that he really is the Zeus of guitar players. He played "I Shot the Sheriff" and with every composition he played - it didn’t matter the song or tune - his distinct manner of strumming and picking, note bending and stretching, really showed his unequivocal prowess with the guitar. As in the '60s and early '70s, each accompanying musician in his band also joined in and showed off their expertise with their respective instruments including a keyboard player extraordinaire and a southpaw guitarist who was truly amazing! Then sitting down to playing the rhythm guitars and some slow numbers, the band showered bliss upon us all! Standing up again to the tune of "After Midnight", Odin brought the crowd back to earth! Then back up the road to Valhalla with "Wonderful Tonight", "Layla" and "Cocaine," sending the audience into wild ecstasy (pun intended)! To whistling, hooting and cries of more, Jupiter Eric and his band came back for just one more last song - "Crossroads" - and the concert came to a grand finish! It was a mind-blowin’ and far-out experience! Just plain great musicians with their God-gifted command over their instruments. No visual effects, no gimmicks, no props, no fuss - "God" hath no need for them!

Enjoy!

Does Incubus still do live shows?
