As for why I "left" Canada? I didn't. I'm 4th generation Canadian - my family arrived in Canada between 1907 and 1913. I work for a multi-national European based organization and I live between New York (where I am currently) and Montreal. So while I am living in New York now, I also still live in Canada; I have offices and directorships in the US and Canada. I also love both the United States and Canada - yet I have absolutely no affinity for India. I've never been there and I hold no ties to it.
My family is very mixed blooded - we have people of all sorts of races and religions in the family. My great-grandfather fought vicious racism when he came here at the turn of the century - and my grandfather and great-uncles fought even more as some of the first East Indians to graduate American and Canadian universities during the 1920s.
So yes, I do take offense to people coming to Canada and having the audacity to still maintain that one should date "within their race" or maintain a certain level of Indian friends, etc.....

Once again, for the dorks who can't read - I didn't say I have an issue with people who do not date out of their race - I said anyone WHO HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE CONCEPT OF AN INDIAN OR ANYONE ELSE dating out of their race knows nothing about being Canadian - and as most Canadians would agree - you honestly need to float back to South Asia - point and form. I didn't start the thread on inter-racial relationships - I merely responded. Society, and North American culture both support my attitude. If you don't like it, find somewhere else to live. We honestly don't want you and your ilk here. Perhaps it's time the rest of you joined the rest of society in reality. Perhaps it's time that you learned a little about the cultures in the countries you live in. I speak French, Spanish, English - I have friends and family from dozens of countries - and yes, I consider myself culturally, socially and intellectually superior to most of you.
4th generation or not, like it or not, I am Indian and by all intensive definitions I am considered a "desi". Most of you people owe 4th generation families like mine a debt of gratitude given that you're in Canada because of us and obstacles that we fought to overcome in order to give people like you the opportunity to immigrate to places like North America.
The Indo-North American experience, by definition is an interracial experience. At the turn of the century when most Indians migrated to the places like the United States - woman and children were banned from coming here because they were considered useless as laborers. Indians were forced to take Mexican or Chinese wives due to racism that prevented Indians from going near whites - and laws that banned Indian woman from North America. The first generation of Indians, and later generations that followed were all forced to interracially mix. That didn't happen in my familly's case simply because my grandfather returned to India after he earned an Engineering degree at the University of Washington in the 1920s and he married my grandmother - who came from an extremely wealthy, elite family in India. However, the Indo-North American experience, by default, was one of interaction, and inter-racial integration.
Now, I'm starting to honestly feel stupider for interacting with most of you - so I think I'll log off. My point was made. No one was able to say a damn thing to refute my point. Most of your responses were baseless personal attacks and no one addressed a single issue in a logical, intelligent way. In fact, your inability to understand a simple concept made in basic English speaks volumes about your intellectual capacity. I, of course, speak about some of you - but not all of you.
Regards,

Let me address a few of these comments in one post. I said those in Canada who have ADVERSE reactions to dating outside of ones race should find somewhere else to live. It's in plain English. I refer to people who have an issue with interracial dating. Unfortunately the Indian community in Canada IS ethno-centric, and it can be VERY backwards and closed minded. This type of ethno-centricity and cultural closed .................
in here equate a serious relationship to a "sexual exploit" just because these people were of different origins shows how culturaly bigoted you truly are.
Hypocrisy without limits; Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

All the blah blah blah BS here. Here is the short form. "I am a racist". " I beleive in the "Melting-pot" idea more than the "Multi-cultural" idea. And finally, "I do not, or can not date a desan cos I don't have the gonads to approach the thousands in and around NY."
Finally I will say this - no matter how much you"stand against ethnocentricity", you will always be ethnic. Not because of your colour - but because of your mentality. The only people who refer to racism, ethno-centricity and likes are academia and those with an inferiority complex. Just like issues with choice are always brought up by anti-choice, just like issues sexual orientation are always brought up by homophobes. The rest just "don't give a damn".
