Hi !
I am a PR, and I qualify for Canadian citizenship on May 2011, if I continue to live here until then. The thing is that I am getting married in Aug, and my fiance lives in US on H1B Visa. I am planning to live in US with him after Aug 2010, and then travel to work everyday in Canada (we both live close to the border).
Now, everyone has been telling me different things, but can I count the weekdays when I am entering Canada to work towards my residency requirement for Canadian citizenship or do I actually have to have an address here and physically be present for the entire day. I will be coming everyday around 8 am, adn leaving 5 pm back to US.
Please help !!
No, you cannot count the weekdays where you are entering Canada and leaving the same day, the days is counted depending on where you put you head to the pillow at night!
If you live in Canada and work in US and commute to work daily/weekly you are okay as long as your primary residence is Canada.
Eg: If you come on Monday to US and leave back to Canada on Thursday. You are considered to be in Canada for 2 days ( Monday and Thursday ) + 3 days ( Friday, Sat, Sunday . That gives you 5 days in Canada for every working week.
Again your primary residence has to be Canada and US should be only work

I work in Canada, and want to keep my job. So I am guessing until I qualify for citizenship, I should stay here in Canada, and my husband could probably come visit me every weekend...
Any other way out ?????
Also, he is on H1, we will be applying for his PR as soon as we get married. But I am assuming there should not be any issues with him visiting me on his Canadian Visitor Visa as long as his PR is still in process ?
Thanks for your replies so far!
