Have you ever been asked a mind twisting question at an interview.
One of the several interviews i attended, i was once asked a question to the answer i still do not have.
What came first a chicken or an egg?
I paused for a very long time as i really needed the job and wanted to give the best answer i could.
All that while i just stared at the interviewer face.
It finally dawned that i would get nowhere as they were either checking my IQ or just beeing smart.
I blurted out what came in my mind that very moment.
I answered back, do you know if your father is your father?
Guess what i never got that job.
Until today i do not have the answer to that question.
What came first a chicken or an egg?

Your answer was interesting one & an adventureous too. Well, My answer would be,
"Neither Chicken nor egg came first. Like humans (ADAM & EVE), first would have been"MALE & FEMALE Chickens" 
".

Chicken and Egg problem is a non existent present day problem, we have both, so we can go from egg to chicken or vice versa, the way we desire. This term may be defined to differentiate between Creation vs. Evolution. People who believes in god will be happy to believe in Creationism and chicken thus come first or may be both. But if we believe the Darwin's theory of evolution, it leads us to Egg coming first in the process of evolution.
So it's a dead lock. But if we do consider the egg is not a chicken's egg then Egg must be coming first and evolved to be a chicken's egg to deliver a chicken for KFC

Maybe they were just testing your ability to handle an impossible situation.
You could've said something like "Don't know yet. But we can both find out. I'll go home and mail you a chicken and an egg separately via standard post. When you call to confirm my job offer, you can let me know which came first."

Very interesting answer Bluelobster. I guess i should have been smarter and told him 'no matter what, i am gald that we have Tandoori chicken'. This was not a job holding big responsibilities so i was not expecting a question like that.
I should have mailed them both a chicken and an egg seperately and should have told them to see what reached them first.
Sreenivas, the question was asked at an interview in India. It was obvious that some one was already selected for the job and they were trying to play a fool. You could tell by the smirk on their faces.
VJ, i agree God created two opposites of each living creature. Perhaps that may explain it a bit.
New Guy, if i explained about evolution they would have turned back and said that my ancestors were 'apes'. They seems to be just trying to have fun on someone else cost.

If you have a chance to analyze the famous "Schrodinger's Cat" problem in Physics, then please do so.. That itself can have two successful outcomes in two different domains...

If you believe in God.... then the Chicken came first....
But even from Darwin's theory of evolution, the chicken only came first.. Why ?
Thats 'cos all life in this earth evolved from amoeba's...aka the chicken evolved from an amoeba... Now you may ask, how did the amoeba come
