I applied for Canadian citizenship in august 2004. I have not as much got, even an acknowledgement from CIC. Does any one have a smilar situation? Any suggestions or advice? I would appreciate any information on this.
Thanks in advance and a very happy new year to all my friends at Canadiandesi.com
Me too applied in August 2004 and did not received any updates from CIC. I have called to CIC and they told me that they have back log for 4 month, so there will be delay of 4 month.
They told me you may receive acknowledgement in Feb. 2005, so I have asked them question dose it means that It may take longer than before example.. before use to take 8 month, so now it will be for sure 8 month + 4 month.. they told me that is correct.
you are in queue...goverment is use to be good here, but looks like now..it's same. Always one answer, we don't have enough staff to process lots of application that we have received.
I applied in sep 2004 from toronto and still haven't recd any info, not even the standard acknowledgement. All ppl who applied in aug 2004 or later, pls keep this forum informed on any new developments so that we may get a sense of how long its taking. Thx.
if you call CIC their 1-800 number... they will tell you which month envolpe they are processing right now. As far as I remember when I called them.. they told me wait atleast for 4 month if you have applied after july..
I suggest just give them a call.....
Very true... They have a backlog...
My relatives applied for Citizenship in August 2nd week. Its January, and we still havent received the initial acknowledgement.
I had called citizenship Canada in early Dec, and asked them why we were still waiting for a acknowledgment after 3 months.
Here is what the attendant told me : "It could take 4 to 6 months, before we send acknowledgments along with the study book on Canada. Currently, we are processing July applications".
So, They are still working on it!!!
C'mon guys....give them a break....Whats the hurry?
On a lighter note
Supporting a population of 31 million people is a BiiiiG JOB. Perhaps someone will now try to understand what it takes to support 1 billion people (when ur also dealing with other native inadequacies) !!!
Lets update each other when we receive something!!!
Take it easy... Have a
My friends,
I think there are lots of factors which decide this process
=> County or town where you reside and how many application in the pipeline from your local area
=> Does your fingerprints are required or not?
=> Did you filled your application correctly and as per the requirements did you attach necessary documents or not?
=> If you moved, did you updated your address or not?
Another information about timings (You won't get this details from Call center)
=> Stage-1: Confirmation letter with Citizen booklet : 6~10 month
=> Stage-2: Request to submit figer print (If required): 2~3 month
=> Stage-3: Exam appearance: 3~4 month
=> Stage-4: If you pass the exam, confirmation letter and Oath request: 6 months
If you total this timings, now it takes 2 years get the citizenship. This is still better than US because you can apply after 3 year compared to 5 year.
Think about this
I too applied in August 1st week and got the acknowledgement in last week of september, since then CIC is totally quite no letter / status on website. I can't even track my application on the web.
