Hey frds

I wud like to know abt reputation of these unis in MASC in Electrical engg.

University of new brunswick
dalhousie university
university of calgary
queen's university
university of western Ontario

If anybody knows anything then plz do let us know .

Do you have a research area in mind ?
Queens Is the best amongst them all...

I will strongly urge you to avoid University of Calgary..Had a very bad time there with the profs...

UNB , Dalhousie is passe....
University of Western Ontario is reputed but not for Electrical Engg...

So ultimately, you should make a dash for Queens...
Whether you get admission there or not is a different story.. They generally prefer Landed Immigrants or citizens ....

Do tell me about ur research plans..as you have mentioned that you want to do a M.A.Sc degree

I am into Power Systems. Prof at UNB gave me quite a positive response. But I am bit apprehensive abt it ....as u pointed out it doesn't seem to have good reputation.

I have my fingers crossed abt Queen's ......it seem to have very good program. Lets see abt that.

Calgary seem to have better ranking of all unis I mentioned.

You seem to have good knowledge abt Electrical Engg .....are u Er too ??

Yes.. did my Ph.D from the University of Ottawa....
One suggestion though....
Go by a professor's profile and not by the University Ranking.....

Power Electronics U of C is pretty limited.,..... N.D.Rao or Ed Nowiciki....

Queens is the best...and I hope you get it

Yes by prof's profile university of manitoba is best but unfortunatly prof A Gole didn't replied to my email and there haven't been any update on my pre- application I posted Seems like it takes lot of time or most prolly I been allready rejected.

UNB ( new brunswick) prof Sharaf have not so bad profile ....so has dalhousie's Prof Al hawry .....so if I go by that I will have to choose one of them in what did u said "passe" programs .

That leaves me only Queen's. Pray for me will you .

Yes abt UWO ....i wud like to update u there........they recently got two top profs in ECE deptt.....one in power sys .....power expert from uni of saskatchewan ( our desi guy Dr Sidhu) and one other guy and have provided them with more than enuff funds. IF EE ranking come out now.....I won't be surprised if UWO is placed over McMasters. But they are too expensive for my pocket.

Anyway what is ur area of specialisation ???

I was in video compression and coding....

Are you a Landed Immigrant or Citizen or an international student?

Dr. Sidhu has a good profile...
Go for a prof..with plenty of publications..

Also make sure Prof...lafdebaaz nahin hain !

I dont pray ( am an agnostic)./.. I will only hope thatu getinto Queens...
Otherwise worst case...UWO le lo !..But dont outside Ontario
