It was neither and opinion nor a cite. It was ony a logical deduction after reading the other material available on the UNDP website. And that deduction has been proven to be correct.

How has it proven to be correct?

I do not know what you are arguing here? Do you agree that the ultimate goal of the report is to bring about improvement in Human Development? The analysis and data collection is done on a country to country basis. Who else, other than governments of countries, do you imagine can make policies and implement recommendations made by the body ? You?

The reference was to "calling international attention".

The fact that it has been posted on the website implies a wider distribution of the report. You could therefore interpret "calling international attention" to mean "raising international awareness" in addition to focussing governments attention on the issues.

You quote from a webpage that tries to define and explain Human Development.
Now here I quote from the webpage that is about the report itself:
http://hdr.undp.org/aboutus/
"The Human Development Report (HDR) was first launched in 1990 with the single goal of putting people back at the center of the development process in terms of economic debate, policy and advocacy."

"Each Report also focuses on a highly topical theme in the current development debate, providing path-breaking analysis and policy recommendations."

I wish there was some formatting facilities available here so that I could use that highlight thingy. It says that the report provides "policy recommendations." Pray tell me for whom does it do that?

Where does it state that the report is ONLY restricted to policy recommendations? I don't see that. If the report is being widely distributed on the internet, it implies that it is for public knowledge. If it was ONLY for policy recommendations, it would have been distributed ONLY the the government ministries concerned.

To summarize my argument, immigrating with the purpose of enjoying improved infrastructure and facilities in the developed countries is not the same as choosing Canada because it is ranked 4 by UNDP.

Canada is no. 4 primarily because of the quality of its infrastructure.

I am always a little surprised when I see such posts. Since you have posted the question on the board, it is obvious that you do have access to a computer and also to the internet. Right? What then prevents you from doing a search yourself on the internet, for the information that you are seeking?? No, I am not trying to find fault or anything. Just curious, that is all! I mean, is it that you do not know how to search, or "google" as they say? Is it that you do not have enough time to look up for stuff on the internet? Does you ISP forbid you from googling?

Do you consider this an apt. reply? Don't tell me you wouldn't throw a fit if someone replied like this to your query, whatever it may be.

Please note that in my post I have very clearly said that I am NOT trying to find fault or anything. I have also said that I am only "curious"!Why should then it call for a "fit"? And honestly, I am curious why any sane person with access to the internet will ask for information on "trend in regard to CAD against USD" on CD??? Honestly, it beats me? If you think he was doing the right thing and that's what you recommend people do, well all I can say is if that's what you think then that's what you think! ::shrug::

And how do you know that the guy only wanted this specific info.?

I don't. But what's that got to do with whether he should try and look for "trend in regard to CAD against USD" on CD and not somewhere suggested by searching the internet??

Maybe this was the lead question to another one asking for opinions on investement decisions.

How would already knowing the answer to this lead question make any difference to his subsequent question, if there was one, on CD??

What you're trying to imply is this information's readily available by searching on google. So why should he post this question here? What I'm saying is every piece of information here is available by searching on google. So?

No. Some queries are difficult to construct for an efficient search. Quite often one has to sift thro several pages looking for information. I am only saying that for something as simple as a currency conversion, it would be much more efficient and time saving to do a search himself than post it on a message board.

DO I see a ganging up here for some reason??:D

:D I guess you only feel it when it comes to you, huh? Even though that's not the case here, I was just trying to make a simple point. Which I have, so I'll butt out.

Diogenes, I’m just wondering:
What gives you the right to go around ...

What gives you the right to suggest ...

What gives you the right to reply in this manner?...

And what gives YOU the right to ask me "what gives me the right..."???:p :p

As a software analyst, I don’t imagine that you have any expertise in the currency markets. Do you then consider you reply on the USD / CAD post to be apt?

Upto your old tricks again buddy! What expertise do YOU have on anything that gives YOU the right to post 300 pots here of suggestions, advice and opinions???

A question was asked on another thread and you replied with the following:
Quote:

How does that matter? The processing is done by their main office and RCMP etc. wherever the hell that is.
What gives you the right to reply in this manner?

Please quote the whole post and then try and poke holes!! Stop grasping at straws!!

Do you consider that your replies on all of the above threads were mean and unbecoming?

Aww...still licking your wounds cren baby?? :D
I thought it was over and we had got over it!!

And, a question that I asked you before: you use the name Diogenes, do you identify with Diogenes of Sinope?

You know he was known as Diogenes the Cynic too? Why do you ask? Do I see you sharpening your stone arrows with my userid and getting ready to throw at me ??

What came to me?? I am really really
I still don't think I was wrong in asking that gentleman why ho could not try and find the answer to the trend of the CAD against USD on the internet?? Even on the board itself, a most appropriate answer would have been providing a lin to a financial website!
